Nominate a colleague

The Becky Dinwoodie Governance Professional Impact Award recognizes a Canadian university governance professional who leads with the same warmth, integrity, and collegiality Becky brought to this profession. If you know someone who supports and mentors their governance colleagues, upholds high professional standards, and has made a genuine impact on the people around them, we’d love to hear about it. Nominations are reviewed by a selection committee each fall, with the recipient announced the following spring.

Award criteria

To be eligible for the award, the university governance professional must fulfil the following criteria:

1. Be a university governance professional active in role or actively seeking a university governance role, with at least three years of university governance experience;
2. Be nominated by two university governance professionals;
3. Demonstrate leadership and a commitment to professional standards in the university governance profession through participation in sector groups, writing, or speaking;
4. Demonstrate collegiality through a willingness to support and mentor other university governance professionals.
5. Is not currently serving on the Canadian University Governance Association Board.

Selection timeline

1. October–November

   Nominations open, communicated via CUGA listserv. Nominations close November 30.

2. December

   Committee vets nominees and chooses up to 5 finalists.

3. January

   Finalists are notified; bios and photos are secured.

4. February

   Finalists are published and endorsements invited.

5. April

   Committee selects the recipient.

6. Annual General Meeting

   Award presented by the CUGA Board Chair.
